Shop Like An Interior Designer Without the Designer Fee!

Updated: Mar 14, 2019

As an interior designer & home stager I come across a lot of DIY type clients. I love these types of clients because they're not afraid to role up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. Many DIY clients hire me for an in home design consultation where I help them create a step by step plan on how to achieve their desired look. I also help with space planning and suggest furniture and accessory placement. From there they take my suggestions and apply them on their own!

From time to time I get a few additional questions after the design consultations and the most requiring question is "Where do you buy furniture for design projects?" or "Where can I purchase furniture for my budget?" My response is always ONLINE! The benefits of working with an Interior designer is that we're able to purchase furniture and accessories at wholesale prices and we also get designer discounts from many furniture retailers. But, online furniture shopping allows the average consumer to purchase furnishings at discounted prices. Shopping online allows you to purchase home decor items for a fraction of the cost that most local retailers would sell it for.

Now online furniture shopping isn't for everyone and it does have it's pros and cons. But I believe the pros out weight the cons. Take a look below!

CONS

1. Can't touch, feel or sit on it until it arrives.

2. Returns & exchanges may take a little longer.

3. Might arrive damaged.

4. Might require assembly

PROS

1. Low to no overhead costs so online stores are able to sell furniture for less.

2. I wide selection to choose from right in the comfort of your own home.

3. Easy to make selections because of the online customer reviews.

4. Easily accessible product details.

5. Low to no delivery cost.

6. Can usually get quick delivery.

Contrary to popular belief interior designers can be the best bargain hunters and a lot of times the hunting starts online! Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try a couple of online furniture stores. You could be missing out on the exact piece of furniture you've been looking for, but didn't know where to find it within your budget.

Check out some of the best kept secrets in online furniture stores. You'll thank me later! ;-)
